Laser Gum Surgery (LANAP®) Vs. Traditional Gum Surgery

Gendex® Cone Beam CT Scanner

CBCT scans provide anatomical accuracy required for diagnosis, treatment planning, surgical execution and follow-ups for implant procedures. Traditional two-dimensional imaging modalities such as panoramic and intraoral images are no longer enough to give you adequate information required for proper implant planning It is also a vital component of computer-guided implant surgery.

Dental Implant planning and placement is just more reliable with CBCT imaging. Data required for implant planning such as quality and quantity of bone, nerve proximity,  and neighboring teeth helps us plan a systematic approach to implant placement.

What this means for you, the patient, is that surgical placement of implants with a CBCT scan is less invasive, more precise and predictable.

  • Considerable radiation reductions in comparison to traditional CT scans
  • Aids in treatment plans with a clear diagnosis backed by visualization.
  • Allows exact measurements to be taken before surgery for precise planning.
  • Immediate 3D reconstruction of anatomical features.

Digital X-Rays

Obtaining a comprehensive view of your mouth is critical to your long term health. It allows our doctors to discover illness at early stages and provide treatment to keep your smile healthy and beautiful.

Digital x-rays are one of the ways in which we can provide you with a better patient experience. This technology eliminates traditional film and transmits images of your mouth directly to our computer, resulting in:

  • Less time needed to take x-rays
  • Shorter periodontal visits
  • Less exposure to radiation
  • Enhanced images for improved insight into your health

Laser Technology

Traditional gum surgery is safe and effective treatment for gum disease, but for many patients the recovery period can be uncomfortable and require downtime while surgical wounds heal. Laser dentistry allows us to provide you with improved health results, as well as a more comfortable, quicker recovery. The Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP®) relies on laser technology to remove bacteria and diseased tissue instead of scalpels. Our surgery without incision gives you excellent long-term results with less discomfort.

  • Limits bleeding
  • Can be optimized for patients
  • Shorter healing time
  • Minimally invasive
  • Preserves healthy parts of the teeth
  • Minimizes risk of bacterial infection

TRIOS® Intraoral Scanners

Our Trios Scanners utilize digital imaging rather than conventional dental impressions. Digital impressions create a better patient experience by eliminating the need to bite into a tray of messy impression material, sometimes more than once and over the course of three appointments. Digital impressions also integrate quite well with computer guided implant placement.

  • More comfortable for patients
  • Faster than standard impressions
  • Higher accuracy
  • Records can be submitted electronically for faster turnaround
  • 3D Digital model can be reviewed in real-time instead of waiting for setup
